Why I love board games

Board games are as important for a child's mental and social development as daily reading. They get older kids' brains buzzing, too. They boost concentration, creative development and improve communication and social skills. They sharpen your child's focus. They teach the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship – when they are losing. Board games are an alternative to time out. They are scientifically proven to help kids build skills in everything from financial planning to empathy. In addition, board games soothe anxiety.

Board games offer opportunities for early learning. Even simple games help your child identify colors, count spaces, and develop hand-eye coordination and dexterity in moving cards and pieces around the board. They are an easy way to encourage healthy brain development and teach your child to consider the concept of rules and to practice following rules.

Board games are useful for development of critical thinking skills, the ability to focus longer and spatial awareness; they strengthen analytical abilities. They help your child to detect patters, plan ahead, predict the outcome of alternative moves and learn from experience.

Besides, stepping aside from endless streaming and coming together as a family to play a board game is guaranteed some lively, screen-free fun.

That is why I love board games.
