What People Are Saying

I loved this delightful story of an impatient dog who in her hurry to go on her walk, gets away from her Mommy and ends up lost. This story was written in the dog’s point of view and shows her emotions clearly and understandably from the first moments of frustration and impatience to the initial feelings of freedom which soon turned to confusion and sadness as she realized she was lost and then ultimately the joy and relief of her being found. This is an excellent way to introduce to children the consequences of their actions in an easy to understand, non-threatening way. The photographs match the storyline perfectly and illustrate the world from Cookie’s point of view. This is a wonderful book for children of all ages and in particularly toddlers through 8 years old. I highly recommend it.

The Day Cookie Was Lost by Susan Chapman is an adorable story about little Pomeranian Cookie. She is a beautiful dog and the story of her getting lost and trying to find her family is told in an easy to understand way while keeping it still interesting to small children. Each page has a photograph of either Cookie or something from her adventure, which will be fun to talk about with children. The book is a good length and a fun addition for any young animal lover.”

So obviously this was a very fast read. I decided to choose it simply because of the cover...who doesn't love a cute dog? I imagine children everywhere would love the story of how Cookie lost her way and the steps she took to find her way home. Cookie and her sister are very spoiled and very loved by their Mommy. You only have to look at the pictures to see that. I needed a quick photo pick me up and this book worked great for that. Cookie got a happy ending and having lived in South Florida; I know she was very lucky indeed. It can be a scary place, not to mention HOT. If you have young readers, request this for them. If nothing else, they will love to look at the pictures. :)”

This is a cute book. It is a very short read and includes the story of how Cookie gets separated from her mom and sister. I liked how real photos were used instead of illustrations, that is different. I recommend this as a short and quick read for your littles.”

Cookie is an adorable, enthusiastic Pomeranian who can't wait to go for walks every day. What happens when she slips her leash and is unable to get home though? This simple story is replete with adorable photos and a thoughtful lesson both for wandering children and dog owners. I know a few first-grade students who will certainly be queuing up for a chance to admire the cheerful photos and read the approachable text. It's obvious that the author really loves her dogs and that no pups were lost in the making of this book ;)”

This is a sweet love story between two adorable Pomeranian dogs and their human mommy who loves them dearly. The dogs are twins and they are named Sugar and Cookie.

One day they all decide to go for a walk. Cookie is energetic and curious and loves the exercise but Sugar... not so much. Unfortunately, Cookie manages to detach from her leash and is off on an adventure. Exploring is fun until she realizes she cannot get back to her family and is lost. Oh my! The world is a big scary place when you are all alone. Will she be able to get back home to her amazing life of eating good food, playing with her sister, and sleeping in her cozy, warm bed? And oh, how she will miss her Mommy's warm hugs and kisses!

I like the photograph illustrations. Kids love real- life pictures which literally bring the text to life. The book is short but meaningful as the concept of getting lost can also apply to small humans too. The captivating story models the happiness and value of having pets... pets that are lucky enough to have an owner who loves them dearly thus giving them a great life. I recommend this book.”
