Why I like lots of blue in the book illustrations for my new children’s book ‘Two If By Sea’

Blue is one of the three primary colors of pigments in painting. Blue represents both the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, freedom, loyalty, wisdom, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.

According to various research, blue produces a calming effect and it encourages confidence, intuition and stimulates imagination and intelligence.

A University of British Columbia study found that blue is best at boosting our ability to think creatively.

So when you read my new book out loud to your youngster, ‘Two If By Sea’, he will not only be calmed by your soothing voice, but when you let him see the bold illustrations, his occipital lobe will be stimulated and you embed creativity in him.

Since ancient times, the eye has been interpreted as a portal to the innermost secrets of the human mind and body – it is the window to the soul.

That is why I love the bold new illustrations with lots of blue in ‘Two If By Sea’.
